Boulder, CO – The Boulder County Progressive Coalition has announced its endorsement of Mark Williams for Congress in this year’s race for the Second Congressional District seat being vacated by Jared Polis.
“I am highly honored,” Williams stated. “I believe it reflects the change that is taking place in our country. Politics as usual has left us with a deep mistrust in our government. I served my country as a fighter pilot over the skies of Iraq and now I’m called to serve again, this time for the people of Colorado.”
“We all know Mark from his tenure as chair of the Boulder County Democratic Party and admire his character and leadership qualities and know he shares – and will fight for — our progressive values,” commented Art Hacker, chair of the Boulder County Progressive Coalition. “We have a longer history with Mark than any of the other candidates and were impressed with his proactive strategies in moving our county party forward, as well in a more democratic direction.
“Mark is a smart and creative innovator who sees the big picture and has his heart in the right place,” Hacker continued. “The board decided that Mark has the stamina and toughness to press through the great pressures in the U.S. Congress, not succumb to incrementalism, and actually achieve policies that serve ordinary Americans.”
Mark Williams has lived in Boulder for over 20 years with his wife and two daughters. He has worked in business and startups and taught at CU Boulder. He has taken a leadership role in teaching law enforcement, first responders, and others to be mentally prepared for the tough work they do every day.
“I know how to tackle difficult problems and develop consensus so that progress is achieved, not compromised,” added Williams. “And my roots in the people and environment of this community and all of the Second District mean that I will be a dedicated force for good in the halls of Congress.”
The Primary Election is June 26th. For more information, go to www.markforcolorado.com.
