Boulder – The race for Colorado’s Second Congressional District seat just got exciting, especially for independent-minded progressives seeking a crusading voice for change.
Independent and progressive Democratic candidate Mark Williams, a former Air Force fighter pilot and Intelligence Officer; and past chair of the Boulder Democratic Party, presented 1,936 signatures to the Secretary of State and has been officially placed on the June 26th Primary Ballot.
Democratic insiders and political power brokers had hoped their hand-picked candidate, Joe Neguse, would go unchallenged in the race to replace former Congressman Jared Polis. But now the race is on and voters will have a chance to put a true progressive in Congress.
“The Party establishment didn’t think that Neguse would have a primary,” stated Williams. “Well, they have been proven wrong! And I am in this to win!!”
Unlike Neguse, Williams takes no PAC money. He has pledged to work for hard working citizens, not those at the top of the political food chain.
“We don’t need help from the DCCC and its billionaire donors and revolving door consultants to decide on issues and candidates here in Colorado’s 2nd District,” stated Williams. “It’s called democracy. We like our candidates like we like our values – strong – so we’re taking a stand for robust policies that address the needs of all Americans. I believe these petitions are a strong voice for that process and I will rely on the voters in the 2nd Congressional District to make up their own minds.”
Ballots will be available on May 25th upon request at the County Clerk’s office. They will be mailed out on June 4th. The Primary Election is June 26th.
