It’s Time for Renewal in American Politics

Saturday, April 7th, 2018

Boulder – “Today our concern must be with the future. For the world is changing,” President John F. Kennedy once said. “The old era is ending. The old ways will not do.” Once again, it’s time for a renewal in American politics. People are jaded and cynical about their government, and honestly, who can blame them? It’s with good reason.

For example, a study that looked at more than 20 years of data tried to answer the question, “Does the government represent the people?” The finding: “The preferences of the average American appear to only have a small, statistically non-significant impact upon public policy.”

Old Era Politics is Killing Our Country

Cynicism is an intelligent response to the study’s findings. It’s increasingly apparent that the game is rigged against ordinary people like you and I. I’m running for office, because the old ways will not do. The old era of politics, where politicians listened to lobbyists, served the powerful, and protected the interests of the privileged few, is killing our country.

This campaign has a vision for something new. A politics born from the moral courage to speak truth and demand that we come together and lead from the heart. It’s a radical notion, but the times demand this kind of courage, creativity and imagination. Especially here in Colorado’s 2nd District
